D-Day

Szervusztok, today we were finally given more information on what we would be doing over our time in Budapest.  You may need to enlarge to see details but the most important things to note:

  • Zwack museum - we are doing this tomorrow afternoon, it is pretty much a museum about alcohol and how it is good for your health, second day in and already we are kick starting with a boozy afternoon.  How good is Hungarian culture?!  Here is the website if you want to know more http://www.zwack.hu/
  • Sziget Festival - Hungarians love festivals and this is one of Europe's largest music festivals.  It takes place on Margaret Sziget, Sziget meaning island.  This Island is in the middle of the Danube (Duna in Hungarian) right in the middle of the city.  International acts come from all over the world to play here and I will be attending free of charge the Saturday with the school and to really get into the Hungarian culture we are going to head back on the Sunday even though we have to pay (it is also the last day/biggest lines up which may have swayed us students). http://szigetfestival.nl/
  • Hungarian Wine Culture *with wine tasting - I don't feel I need to explain this.
  • Excursion to Balaton - This is where the most famous Hungarian red wine is made (called Tokaj) and I dare say I will be coming back with a few bottles of that!

This afternoon we had a walking/catching public transport trip around Buda and Pest.  We stopped in at a few malls, which are everywhere Hungarians love there malls!  Big flashy things four stories high with everything in them, but they are pretty cool much better then old Q-Gate in LHC.

So peeps don't forget to follow my blog, there is a wee button up the top there that says follow.  Have a wonderful day down there in NZ I'll see you all tomorrow.

I'll leave you with a picture of dinner: vege lasagna with ten sheets of pasta.
Over and out from Budapest.
